Frequently Asked Questions about Host Home

Q. What is host home?

A. Host home providers are either family members of clients, or individuals chosen for their responsibility, and ability to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for clients of the HCS program.

Q. How do I become a host home provider?

A. You will need to fill out an application here, and then you will be contacted for a phone interview. If that goes well, we will schedule a home tour to ensure your home meets state regulations for a safe host home environment. We will then work to place a suitable client with you as a new host home provider.

Q. How long do I have to wait before I receive a client to become a host home provider?

A. The timing varies depending on your availability, and the length of time it takes for the transfer to be processed. You can expect to wait any where from 2 weeks, up to 3 months in some instances.

Q. What is the difference between host home provider, and CFC (community first choice)?

A. Host Home providers are more directly responsible for the day to day care for their respective client. Whereas, CFC individuals may posses more freedom, their interaction with HCS staff may not be as involved requiring them to reach out when they need additional assistance.

Q. What duties must I uphold as a host home provider?

A. You will be responsible for the clients necessities such as transportation to and from activities, providing a safe, clean, and comfortable environment (no major restrictions on living space such as confined to room.), and communicating with program about changes to clients needs and welfare including reporting medical and physical changes in clients.

Q. How do I learn more about the client I will be taking into my home?

A. Like an employee, Host Home providers will be given a thorough training including being trained on the needs of the client, safety guidelines for extreme weather events, and expectations of care for the client.

Q. How do I get paid?

A. Host home providers are required to fill out Service Delivery Logs similar to Direct Care Staff. The notes you produce will be reviewed for accuracy, and then submitted to our Billing department. Of which, you will be reimbursed for providing the services for the client in addition to the submitted paperwork. There is no release of funds without documentation.

Q. When do I get paid?

A. After submission of quality notes for the month, you will be paid for your services by the 15th of the month. Holidays may cause a slight delay in payments, but our target date is to pay out our host home providers by the 15th of the month.
